SPSR Nellore district is attracting huge investments, and it is emerging as a hub for industrial development, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said while participating in ‘Matsyakarula Sevalo’ programme at Thummalapenta village in Kavali mandal on Tuesday (May 19, 2026). He announced funds for a slew of infrastructure projects in the district.

“Large-scale industries are coming to Nellore. We will lay metalled roads, connecting 25 fishing villages at a cost of ₹6.27 crore. We are sanctioning ₹6.19 crore for the desilting of North Buckingham Canal. We will also develop this canal as an inland waterway,” Mr. Naidu said.

Referring to the advisory by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the wake of the conflict in West Asia, Mr. Naidu said, “Let’s reduce foreign travel and support domestic tourism. We should develop the tourist areas and beaches in our country. I propose a beach resort in Nellore to attract global tourists.”

Mr. Naidu assured to transform Thummalapenta into a model village. “The R&B road connecting Ramayapatnam and Juvveladinne fishing harbour will be sanctioned soon. In just 50 days, investments worth ₹10,000 crore have been grounded in the district,” he said.

Nellore District Collector Himanshu Shukla said seven major industries have come up in the district during the last 50 days. The companies include Shyam Metallics and Energy Limited, Anant Technologies, Aditya Presitec Limited, RR Industries, Furniture Park, Apollo Tyres Limited, and Visakha Industries.

“Apart from investments of around ₹10,000 crore, these units will help create job opportunities for 75,000 people. Huge industrial projects are taking shape rapidly near Kavali. The construction of Ramayapatnam Port is underway just 15 km from here. BPCL is setting up the country’s largest oil refinery near this port,” he said.

“The IFFCO Kisan SEZ is moving forward with an investment of ₹10,000 crore. Transport facilities will be improved to Dagadarthi Airport with an investment of ₹1,000 crore,” the Collector said, adding that these projects will provide employment opportunities to about 1.17 lakh people.
