Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao claimed that the Congress government’s ‘Indiramma Rajyam’ had plunged Telangana into a deep crisis and accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of betraying farmers through the State’s crop procurement policy.

Addressing a constituency-level party workers’ meeting in Wardhannapet and Parakal constituencies, he claimed that the Congress government had failed to deliver meaningful welfare and development during its two-and-a-half years in office.

Criticising the government’s decision to procure paddy only within the limits prescribed by the Centre, Mr. Rama Rao alleged that the policy would severely affect Telangana’s farming community. He said the Chief Minister had effectively ‘signed a death warrant’ for farmers by restricting procurement to the quantity approved by the Union government.

Drawing a comparison with the BRS administration, he said that Mr. Revanth Reddy had once criticised the State for following the Centre’s directives but was now adopting the same approach by limiting paddy procurement. He warned that farmers could face uncertainty regarding the purchase of their produce beyond the Central quota in future agricultural seasons.

Mr. Rama Rao also criticised the Chief Minister’s repeated visits to New Delhi, alleging that despite making 73 trips to the national capital, he had failed to secure substantial benefits for the State.

In a separate meeting, BRS MLA T. Harish Rao also alleged that CM had betrayed the farmers and he would be taught a lesson in the next elections.
