Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy condemned the alleged irregularities and paper leaks linked to the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination, stating that such incidents had “demonetised” the future of students across the country.

Expressing concern over the growing anxiety among aspirants and parents, the Chief Minister said the cancellation of the examination had caused enormous distress and uncertainty among lakhs of students who had spent years preparing for one of the country’s most competitive entrance tests.

Nearly 22.79 lakh students had appeared for the NEET-UG examination conducted on May 3, 2026, across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. However, allegations of paper leaks and serious irregularities in the examination process have now thrown the future of aspirants into uncertainty.

In a post on social media platforms, Mr. Reddy drew parallels between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and alleged that both parties shared similarities in “failures, betrayal and organised corruption,” and said repeated examination scandals were eroding public trust in institutions.

He said the credibility of national-level examinations must be protected at all costs and demanded stringent action against those responsible for the leaks and corruption. The Chief Minister asserted that any individuals or organised networks involved in the malpractice should face the “strictest punishment” irrespective of their influence or position.

“The Government of Telangana stands firmly with the students and parents affected by this crisis,” he said, urging the Union Government and the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct a transparent, time-bound and credible investigation into the matter.

He also stressed that innocent students should not be forced to suffer repeatedly because of systemic failures and administrative lapses. Mr. Reddy observed that students prepare for NEET with immense sacrifice, emotional pressure and financial burden, and said competitive examinations should serve as instruments of opportunity and merit rather than anxiety and uncertainty.

The Chief Minister further assured that Telangana would continue to support students in every possible manner and called for stronger safeguards, advanced technological protections and greater institutional accountability to prevent such incidents in the future.
