The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has criticised the resignation of four MLAs from the AIADMK and immediately joining the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Speaking to reporters here, former CPI (M) State secretary K. Balakrishnan said that confusion persisted in the AIADMK both before and after the election, with the party forfeiting deposits in several constituencies. He said that as many as 25 AIADMK MLAs had pledged their support to the TVK even before the latter sought support, prompting the AIADMK to initiate action against them.

Mr. Balakrishnan said the CPI (M) offered outside support to the TVK to prevent the imposition of President’s rule or indirect control by the BJP and warned the rapid induction of four MLAs into the TVK has raised serious doubts of horse-trading. “This is not healthy politics,” he said, adding that TVK’s aim was to bring change, and such tactics would not serve their goal.

He also criticised the DMK and the Congress for its handling of the INDIA alliance during election campaign in Puducherry, stating that seat-sharing in 30 constituencies and coordination was poorly managed, which contributed to the coalition’s setback.

The ruling AINRC-BJP combine retaining power in the Union Territory has led to poor governance. The alliance has not yet formed a full Ministry, and internal competition continues among the parties. The CPI (M) has also resolved to carry out public outreach campaigns, including door-to-door canvassing, to oppose policies and action that are harming the residents, he said. Puducherry State secretary S. Ramachandran was present.
