A group of unidentified women allegedly stole gold ornaments from a passenger onboard a bus to Kakinada at Dwaraka Bus Complex in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. The incident came to light following a complaint from the victims on Sunday.
According to the complaint, the victim was getting into the bus due to the rush at the platform when the two women reportedly pretended to board the same bus.
Taking advantage of the crowd and confusion, they allegedly opened the passenger’s bag and stole gold jewellery weighing reportedly around 25 tolas. The entire incident was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras installed at the RTC Complex.
The footage is now being examined by the police to identify and trace the accused women, who fled the spot soon after the theft.
