Noted artist and retired professor V. Ramesh inaugurated “Resonant Spaces”, the annual exhibition of Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) students of Andhra University, on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the creative expressions of young artists have the potential to generate new ideas and perspectives in society. Appreciating the art works on display, he said that the exhibits reflected the students’ artistic maturity and called for the creation of a dedicated art gallery to encourage young talent and strengthen the city’s cultural landscape.
Addressing the gathering, Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G.P. Raja Sekhar said, “The annual cultural showcase by the final-year BFA students creates awareness about fine arts. During this peak summer, it is a good place to relax and witness art pieces that appeal to our senses and minds.”

Referring to the university’s centenary celebrations, he said the “Centennial Saga” exhibition mounted by alumni and students had been one of the standout events. He also unveiled the second edition of the departments annual magazine, “Canvas”, featuring students’ creative expressions.
The three-day exhibition, organised at the Department of Fine Arts in Sivajipalem, brings together nearly 60 works by 19 final-year students. The displays include watercolours, acrylic and oil paintings, wood sculptures, mixed-media works and printmaking, offering visitors a glimpse into the diverse concerns and practices of emerging artists.

Visual artist and faculty member Mrudula Kunatharaju said: "The exhibition represented a long-standing academic tradition that enabled graduating students to present their work to the public. It provides an opportunity to see diverse artistic practices, ranging from explorations of caste-based issues to reflections on personal experiences and individual perspectives of the world.”
Ms. Kunatharaju also pointed to the growing national recognition earned by students through platforms such as the Students’ Biennale in Kochi and exhibitions organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until May 31.
