State-owned NMDC has increased iron ore prices by ₹200 a tonne in the latest revision effective May 6.

The new prices have been fixed at ₹5,500 per tonne for Baila Lump and ₹4,700 for the same quantity of Baila Fines, NMDC said in the revision, which is the second such this fiscal.

On April 5, the company, which is India’s largest iron ore producer, had increased the price of Baila Lump by ₹500 per tonne to ₹5,300 and Baila Fines to ₹4,500 from ₹4,050 earlier.

These are FOR (freight on road/rail) prices that are exclusive of royalty, DMF, NMEDT, cess, Forest Permit Fee, transit fee, GST, environmental cess and other taxes, NMDC said.

The company had closed FY 26 with Baila Lump price at ₹4,800 and Baila Fines at ₹4,050 following the revision effective March 6, in which it has increased prices of the key raw material of steel by ₹100 a tonne and ₹50 respectively.

Earlier this month, NMDC said it was eyeing 60 million tonne production in FY27. It said this announcing a 16% increase in April production at 4.64 MT compared to 4 MT a year earlier. Sales increased marginally to 3.68 MT (3.63 MT).
