Sanitation facilities

The government hospital bus stop in Kadayanallur and the Krishnapuram bus stop do not have any toilet facilities for the general public. The lack of basic sanitation is causing serious inconvenience, especially to students, differently abled persons and elderly persons. Due to the absence of public toilets near the bus stops, commuters are forced to endure discomfort and potential health risks.

The department officials are requested to take immediate action and construct public toilets near these two bus stops at the earliest.

Waste management

The residents of TNHB Colony stage 2, phase 2 of V.M. Chatram, are facing a garbage menace due to inadequate and irregular collection of waste by garbage collection vehicles. Due to the delay in the collection, the garbage, particularly the used polyethene bags, have accumulated in the drains in streets. The corporation authorities are requested to look into this matter and take immediate steps to ensure regular garbage collection and clean the affected area.

River restoration

Many voices have been raised in recent times, including the new district collector, regarding the urgent need to clean the Thamirabarani river, as the river’s condition continues to deteriorate. Anyone visiting the river stretch opposite to Tirunelveli district collectorate can observe large numbers of Prosopis juliflora (seemai karuvelam) trees that have grown extensively, thereby contributing to the drying of riverbed. There is also a court directive calling for that this dangerous tree must be rooted out from all the places. The district administration and representatives from NGOs must look into the issue and are urged to take immediate steps to remove the invasive plants that are encroaching upon the natural flow of the perennial river.

Road repair

A road in Ezhuchattupathu village under the Kovalam village panchayat is in a worn out condition and is riddled with potholes, making vehicular movement difficult and unsafe. The concerned authorities are requested to lay a concrete road in the area.
