Complaints about basic amenities constitute the main grouse of the residents in Wards 1 to 29 of the Tiruppur Corporation who account for the higher proportion of voters in Tiruppur North constituency.
The most pressing issue is garbage disposal, reflecting in heaps of unsegregated wastes surfacing across the wards.
This, combined with the clogging of drainage has caused an unbearable mosquito menace, according to Rakiappan, a public welfare activist.
The residents complain that the condition of street lights along the arterial Perumanallur Road leaves much to be desired.
By and large, the residents acknowledge the efforts taken by the Corporation to set right the drinking water supply
The political activities, as such, have not heated up, and the direction of the sway of voters towards any particular party candidate cannot be determined with certainty at this juncture, according to Chandrasekar, another city resident.

In the rural parts, the emphasis of the voters is on the prompt implementation of phase-II of Athikkadavu Avinashi drinking water-cum-irrigation scheme, said ‘Athikkadavu’ Sampath, who has been in the forefront of the campaign for the comprehensive implementation of the project.
Also, the traffic snarls are causing frustration. Though soil tests were conducted towards the end of AIADMK regime, the DMK government did not pursue the road bridge project from Pushpa Theatre along Perumanallur Road, Mr. Sampath pointed out.
The AIADMK candidates had won in the constituency for three consecutive terms.
In the 2021 polls, K.N. Vijeyakumar of AIADMK polled 1,13,384 votes, defeating M. Subramanian of CPI by a margin of 40,102 votes. Significantly, in the 2016 polls, Mr. Vijeyakumar had won against the DMK candidate M.P. Saminathan, Kangayam MLA and State Minister, by a margin of 37,774 votes.
This time, the AIADMK has fielded the current Palladam MLA M.S.M. Anandan, who had, in 2011, defeated C. Govindasamy of DMK by a margin of 73,271 votes in Tiruppur North constituency. The CPI candidate is Mr. Subramanian again. The NTK has fielded Abinaya Premkumar while the TVK candidate is V. Sathyabama., former MP.
