VGM Hospital inaugurated the VGM Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Clinic on the occasion of World Digestive Health Day by Dr. K.R. Palaniswamy, Senior Gastroenterologist.
Hospital authorities said that IBD, which includes Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, is increasingly being diagnosed among adolescents and young adults in India. Doctors highlighted the need for early diagnosis among individuals experiencing persistent diarrhoea, abdominal pain, blood in stools, unexplained weight loss, anaemia and fatigue.
According to the hospital, the clinic will provide endoscopic diagnostics, biologic therapies, nutritional support and minimally invasive surgical management for complex cases. As part of the initiative, the hospital also launched “My Gut, My Voice”, a monthly patient support and education forum for patients and caregivers. Dr. V.G. Mohan Prasad said the clinic would focus on evidence-based and patient-centred care while also creating awareness about the early symptoms and treatment options.
