The Juvenile Justice Board in Anantapur has directed a juvenile in conflict with the law to undergo two years’ institutional rehabilitation and imposed a fine of ₹10,000 in a sexual assault case involving a minor girl under the Kadiri Rural police station limits in Sri Sathya Sai district.
The case, registered in 2020 under Section 376 of the IPC and relevant provisions of the POCSO Act, pertains to the alleged sexual assault of the girl by a 13-year-old boy. According to the police, the victim’s mother intervened after hearing the girl’s cries, following which the boy fled the scene. A complaint was subsequently lodged, and the juvenile was apprehended and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
Principal Magistrate Harika delivered the order on Saturday after examining the evidence and witness statements.
Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar said crimes against women and children would be dealt with firmly and offenders “cannot escape the law.”
