HYDERABAD

Union Minister for Coal & Mines G. Kishan Reddy has again appealed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to expedite the pending road-widening work to improve access to the Cherlapalli railway terminal station.

Mr. Reddy expressed concern over the difficulties faced by thousands of passengers due to inadequate road connectivity to the station. Currently, the Cherlapalli terminal handles 46 trains and around 28,000 passengers daily. Despite assurances from the State government, work on the ground is yet to begin, he noted.

Pointing out that Cherlapalli was recently designated as a new municipal commissionerate, the Minister stressed that the road works should be completed at the earliest. Improved connectivity, he said, would benefit RTC buses, auto-rickshaws, and taxis, easing travel for commuters. Mr. Reddy, who is also the Secunderabad MP, added that MMTS services are expected to be introduced at the station soon.

Earlier on Sunday, the Minister flagged off Train No. 17059/17069, the Cherlapalli–Tiruchanur Express, providing an additional rail option for devotees travelling to Tirupati. The weekly train connects to Tiruchanur station, located about five kilometres from Tirupati, via Mahabubnagar, Gadwal, Kurnool, and Tadipatri. Seven more new trains are expected to begin operations soon for the benefit of passengers in Telangana, he added.
