Actor and AIADMK’s deputy propaganda secretary Gautami Tadimalla quit the Dravidian party on Sunday (June 14, 2026) and announced her decision on social media. “With a heavy heart, I have resigned from the AIADMK today,” she wrote in the social media post.

“Considering the prevailing political situation and to involve myself in social service, I resign from the primary membership of the AIADMK as well as my post as the party’s deputy propaganda secretary with a heavy heart, effective today [June 14, 2026],” Ms. Tadimalla said in her letter addressed to AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

In her letter, Ms. Tadimalla who joined the AIADMK in February 2024, also thanked senior party functionaries, former Ministers and State and district-level party functionaries and that of the party’s local units for their cooperation.

Ms. Tadimalla was previously with the BJP for 25 years and quit the national party in October 2023. At the time of her resignation from the BJP, she claimed that she was originally assured of a party ticket to contest from Rajapalayam in the 2021 Assembly polls, but the assurance was “rescinded at the last minute”.
