The Karamana police have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with a murder attempt on two youths.

The accused, identified as Arun of Mudavanmugal, was taken into custody for allegedly attacking Akhil and Amal due to a long-standing enmity.

According to the police, the incident occurred at Thamalam around 11.30 p.m. on April 14. Akhil and Amal were standing with their friends in front of the school when the accused approached them. Without any provocation, he allegedly initiated a verbal altercation which soon escalated into a physical confrontation.

During the clash, Arun purportedly assaulted both youths and stabbed Amal in the neck with a knife in an attempt to murder him. The accused fled the scene after committing the crime. Amal is currently undergoing treatment.

The accused was remanded in judicial custody after being produced at a court.
