Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar participated as the chief guest at the Prime Minister Rozgar Mela programme held at Railway Bhavan in Guntur on Saturday as part of the nationwide employment initiative.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed Rozgar Mela events organised across the country through virtual interaction. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chandra Sekhar interacted with newly recruited employees and youth, stressing the importance of responsibility, skill development and commitment to public service.

Stating that employment generation in the Central government had been a continuous process, he said the Prime Minister’s direct monitoring of recruitment had improved transparency and planning. “If every Indian draws inspiration from such leadership and acts responsibly, India can achieve the goal of becoming a developed nation sooner,” he said.

Highlighting infrastructure development initiatives, he said railway stations were being modernised under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and national highways were being strengthened. Referring to the Nandivelugu Railway Over Bridge, he alleged that the project, sanctioned in 2013, had remained neglected for nearly five years after the change in government before efforts were revived to secure funds and resume construction.

He urged youth to focus on acquiring skills rather than merely obtaining certificates and advised newly appointed employees to identify shortcomings in their respective departments and work towards reforms. Appointment letters were later distributed to recruits from the railway, postal and banking sectors.

Railway DRM Sudeshna Sen and other senior officials attended the programme.
