French automaker Renault plans to position India among its top three global markets for the Renault brand by 2030. Francois Provost, CEO of Renault Group who was here in Chennai unveiled the company’s FutuREady plan for India and said that new vehicles will be introduced, bringing its portfolio to seven models in India by 2030. “We have already launched the new Duster, and we are already seeing strong interest and enthusiasm from customers,” he said. “India represents more than 1/3 (34%) of the TIV growth in the markets where Renault Group operates. It is one of the fastest growing automotive markets,” he added.

Mr. Provost further said: “We want to integrate India more deeply into Renault Group’s global value chain, especially through vehicle and component exports. Our objective is to reach €2 billion annually in exports by 2030.

“With futuREady, we are competing in a market of around 50 million vehicles per year, which is more than half of the global market (55%). We presented the new Bridger concept: a multi-energy vehicle, with best-inclass efficiency. Our goal is to begin production in India in the second half of next year,” he added. He also mentioned that India is already a major source of engineering and innovation for Renault Group. “With 6,000 engineers in vehicle engineering and IS/IT in Chennai, India is one of Renault’s key engineering centers worldwide. And we want to go further,” he pointed out.

“We will also deploy new technologies in India, with two key platforms: the Renault Group Entry Platform and the Renault Group Modular Platform,” Mr. Provost said.

Designed for scale and adaptability, RGMP supports multiple vehicle formats from 4.0 to 4.7 meters, high value digital and interactive interfaces, and full multi-energy flexibility. “By 2030, four products in India will be built on RGMP, including Duster and Bridger,” said Stephane Deblaise, CEO of Renault Group in India.
