In a swift action, Bengaluru police rescued a 28-year-old man from a life-threatening situation after he posted a distressing message on his WhatsApp status.

The incident occurred on April 8 around 6.35 p.m. in Munireddy Layout near Garvebhavipalya at Begur in southeast Bengaluru. The 28-year-old man had posted a message: “Today is my last day”, which was seen by a friend. The friend immediately alerted the Namma 112 Emergency Helpline.

The helpline staff relayed the information to Hoysala-215 patrol personnel — an assistant sub-inspector and a police constable, attached to Begur Police Station. The team acted swiftly and reached the given location within four minutes.

On arrival, the police found the house locked from inside. They broke open the door and entered the house. The 28-year-old man was found unconscious on the floor. He was immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital. Following treatment, he is currently out of danger, according to the police.

Emphasising the role of the individual who alerted the police and helped save his friend, the police have urged people to alert Namma 112 in such situations.
