A worker died, and two others suffered injuries after scaffolding collapsed during the construction of an overhead water tank here on Friday.

The deceased was identified as M. Aravindan (25), a resident of Pudukkottai district. On Friday he, along with Raman and Marimuthu of the same locality, was engaged in the construction of an overhead water tank near the Paramathi Velur town panchayat office road in Namakkal district. At that time, the scaffold collapsed and the three workers fell from the tank. In the incident, the three sustained grievous injuries and Aravindan died on the way to hospital. Raman and Marimuthu were admitted to a private hospital in Erode district. The Paramathi Velur police registered a case and are investigating further.
