Though the district did not elect any TVK MLA in the just concluded Assembly election, the party candidates’ impressive poll performance in all five Assembly constituencies of the district and the votes they have ultimately bagged have surprised the political parties and the voters as well.

Though none of the five TVK candidates fielded in the district had romped home in the electoral battle, the number of votes they polled is something unbelievable as the minimum votes obtained by one of these contestants is over 45,000 votes.
