Police have seized 300 kg of banned tobacco products in Dindigul. One person has been arrested in connection with the case and a car has also been seized.

Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a vehicle check near Anjali roundabout. Police intercepted the car and as part of the vehicle check questioned the driver Mukesh Kumar, 23, from Rajasthan.

After he gave contradictory answers to the police and revealed that banned tobacco products intended for sale had been stockpiled in a godown in Roja Nagar, the police conducted a search at the godown and seized 300 kg of banned tobacco products. The police arrested Mukesh Kumar. Police have registered a case and investigation is under way.

Dindigul Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar said severe action will be taken against those indulging in illegal activities such as smuggling and sale of banned substances in Dindigul district.
