A Delhi court on Thursday remanded in four-day police custody the 19-year-old former house help accused of raping and killing a senior IRS officer’s 22-year-old daughter at their residence in south Delhi’s Kailash Hills in the early hours of Wednesday. The victim was an engineering graduate and preparing for the Civil Services examination.

Judicial Magistrate First Class Deepika Thakran of the Saket Courts allowed the Delhi police’s plea seeking four days of custodial interrogation of Rahul Meena to investigate the “heinous crime”. He was arrested on Wednesday evening from a hotel in Dwarka and booked under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those pertaining to rape, murder, and robbery, at the Amar Colony police station.

Speaking to The Hindu, a senior police officer said the accused was taken to the IRS officer’s Kailash Hills residence to recreate the crime scene. The police said they found the accused’s bloodstained trousers and shoes that he had left behind in the house and sent them for forensic examination.
