State Government has sanctioned ‘Kuruvai’ special package of giving subsidy to farmers to promote mechanised planting and direct sowing of paddy on 1,000 acres in the district during this ‘kar’ season.

As per this special package, back-end subsidy of ₹4,000 per acre will be given for mechanised planting and direct sowing of paddy. The subsidy will be credited to the bank account of the beneficiary farmer. Each farmer can avail this benefit for a maximum of 2 acres.

After the direct sowing or mechanised planting of paddy, the agriculturists should apply through the ‘Uzhavar’ App for getting the subsidy. The applicants should furnish details about their bank account, Aadhaar card copy, proof for mechanised planting of paddy saplings and other related documents while applying for the subsidy.

“The farmers, for getting better yield, should use micro nutrients for which the subsidy of ₹147.60 per acre or the micro nutrient at 50% subsidised price, whichever is less will be given. Each applicant farmer can avail this benefit up to 5 acre,” said District Collector Ranjeet Singh.

He also prescribes the use of liquid bio fertilizers for disease resistance which are available with 60% subsidy and each beneficiary can buy the liquid bio fertilizer at 60% subsidised cost for a maximum of 5 acres.

For buying paddy seeds less than 10-year-old, ₹20 per kg will be given as subsidy while this incentive is only ₹10 per kg for the seeds above the age of 10 years.

Mr. Ranjeet Singh said this subsidy is given on ‘First come first served’ basis and hence the aspiring farmers should contact the Agriculture Assistant Director’s Offices concerned at the earliest.
