The Special Investigation Team (SIT) officers probing into the custodial torture and murder of Gade Sai Krishna (25), are trying to find out the other accused involved in the crime.

Sai Krishna has been missing since the Task Force police of NTR Commissionerate took him into custody from Markapuram on May 5.

The SIT, headed by IGP M. Ravi Prakash, reportedly found that two head constables and a friend of the accused CI, S.S.V.V. Nagaraju, helped the latter commit the offence.

Investigation revealed that the Task Force and the Krishnalanka police took Sai Krishna into custody at 3 a.m. on May 5 and handed him over to the Krishnalanka police station, along with his mobile phone, at 7 a.m. the next day.

Investigation officers are trying to find out whether the suspended Station House Officer (SHO) updated information on the arrest of Sai Krishna to the South Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), the DCP concerned and the Police Commissioner. If so, why did the NTR Commissionerate officials not enquire about Sai Krishna, who was in custody, during the conference meetings held twice in a day with the ACPs, and on the Daily Situation Report (DSR) sent from each police station?

The SIT personnel, who verified the General Diary (GD) and seized some documents from Krishnalanka police station tried in vain to question the other suspects in the case.

Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Commission (APCLC) State general secretary Chiluka Chandrashekar demanded the government to book all those involved in Sai Krishna’s death.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, who attended a series of programmes in Vijayawada on Friday, refused to comment on the case.

When the media asked her to explain the steps being taken by the government to render justice to Sai Krishna’s family members and the status of investigation in the case, the Home Minister refused to comment.
