Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Union and the State governments in a writ petition filed by a housewife seeking directions to them to take effective diplomatic and administrative steps to trace her son Gujja Manideep Reddy who went missing in Finland since May 6.

The judge posted the matter to June 24 for next hearing after the standing counsel for the Union government and the State government counsel sought time to secure instructions in the matter. According to 41-year-old Gujja Marnatha, who filed the writ petition, her son Manideep Reddy flew to Finland in March of 2025 to pursue an under-graduation course.

She informed the bench that Manideep spoke to her over phone last time on May 5. She told the court that her son informed her during the telephonic conversation that he was at a bakery and was about to return to his room soon. He even told his room-mates that he had gone out and would be returning to the accommodation soon, the petitioner told the court.

However, the parents did not hear from him again till date. The worried parents contacted his friends, room-mates and others in Finland but none could provide any clue. The petitioner contended that the authorities were not adequately responding to the queries of the parents.

The petitioner wanted the officials of Indian Embassy in Finland to ensure the efforts to trace her missing son were expedited. The Union government standing counsel informed the bench that a case was registered by the Finland authorities in the matter. The family had been updated about the probe till May 29, the counsel told the court.
