A 40-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death following a quarrel at a construction site in Velandipalayam in Coimbatore on Friday night.

The Sai Baba Colony police identified the deceased as K. Ravindran of Kovilmedu and arrested A. Mani (50), a construction worker from Salem district, in connection with the incident.

According to the police, Ravindran had been engaged for construction work at the site during the day. An altercation later broke out between the two men, during which Mani allegedly assaulted Ravindran with a wooden log, causing fatal injuries. The body was subsequently found on Thadagam Road.

The body was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Mani was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
