A strong wave in favour of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in Thoothukudi district has resulted in the party sweeping three Assembly segments, including those long been regarded as the dravidian parties stronghold.

Notably P. Geetha Jeevan from DMK was defeated by TVK candidate and actor A. Srinath with a whopping difference of 37,731 votes. This result is particularly striking given that the candidate is from a two year old party. Ms. Geetha Jeevan’s loss has come as a major shock, as she had previously been elected three times from the constituency.
