Hyderabad advocate murder: Police questioning continues; ...
The Hindu Bureau · 2026-05-25 · via The Hindu: Latest News today from India and the World, Breaking news, Top Headlines and Trending News Videos.

The Hyderabad police have questioned about 10 persons as part of the investigation into the murder of advocate Khaja Moizuddin, who died after being allegedly rammed by an SUV near Masab Tank, officials said on Monday (May 25).

“Several people are being questioned in connection with the case. Around eight to 10 persons have been interrogated so far. Nothing further can be disclosed until the investigation is completed properly,” an officer involved in the probe said.

Police have so far remained tight-lipped about key aspects of the investigation, including whether the SUV allegedly used in the attack has been seized. Officials have also not disclosed details regarding the custody or arrest status of the accused persons named by the family.

The advocate had sustained grievous injuries in the incident on Saturday (May 23) and later died while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, the victim’s son, Farhan, met senior police officials on Monday and later spoke to the media outside Abids police station. He said he had faith in the police and judiciary but stressed that the investigation should move swiftly.

“I have complete faith and confidence in the police and I believe they will do a proper investigation. But there has to be a time limit for all investigations,” he said.

Mr. Farhan said police officials assured him that the accused, Mujahid Alam Khan, would be taken into judicial custody and that security would be provided to him and his family in view of alleged threats.

He alleged that his father had been fighting legal battles for years to protect Waqf properties and claimed the murder was linked to those disputes. According to him, his father had earlier pursued legal remedies in connection with an alleged assault case linked to a Waqf property dispute in Malakpet, in which Mujahid Alam Khan was allegedly involved.

Mr. Farhan further alleged that the accused persons were being given preferential treatment inside the police station. He claimed they were seated in air-conditioned rooms and had access to their mobile phones while in police custody.

“They are murder accused and are being given very soft treatment by the police. I do not understand what is happening,” he said.

He also claimed the accused were attempting to portray the case as a political conspiracy. “I completely fail to understand from which angle it is a political conspiracy,” he said.

Mr. Farhan alleged that the accused had initially absconded towards the Karnataka border before being brought back by police. However, he claimed they had only been taken into custody and not formally arrested.

Police have not officially responded to the allegations made by the family regarding the treatment of the accused, the alleged political angle, or the status of the vehicle involved in the case.
