West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to step up protests over repeated leaks of question paper in the country. Protests will be held in Kolkata as a part of national campaign organised by the Congress to raise the issue of ordeal faced by students die to frequent paper leak

Prasenjit Bose, the city coordinator of ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ told The Hindu that the number of NEET aspirants from West Bengal was over one lakh, and the total number of students who appeared for examinations conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in the past one year was 3.5 lakh.

“NTA became operational in 2016 and in eight years there have been 89 instances of paper leak,” Mr. Bose said. The Congress leadership in West Bengal will hold protests on August 1 demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

State Congress president Subhankar Sarkar who addressed a press conference on June 25 said that the National Testing Agency (NTA) has become a “National Trauma Agency” for millions of students.

“Our fight is not just about NEET. It is about saving an entire education system that is now in the ICU. Paper leaks, recruitment scams, vacant posts, expensive coaching systems, endlessly delayed examinations, and unemployment have shattered the confidence of young Indians. The world’s largest youth population today faces one of its most insecure futures. The Education Minister and the NTA cannot escape responsibility for this crisis,” the West Bengal Congress president said.

Along with Congress leader Prasenjit Bose and Subhankar Sarkar, Supriya Shrinate, chairperson social media and digital platforms of All India Congress Committee was also present at the press conference.

Congress has launched the nationwide “Chhatron Ki Goonj” campaign with a students’ convention by Rahul Gandhi in Rajasthan’s Kota on June 17, 2026. This 40-day campaign will be conducted across 28 major cities, engaging students, job aspirants, coaching hubs, college campuses, libraries, and youth groups across the country.

As part of the campaign, the party will start pamphlet distribution, student outreach drives, and street-corner meetings across 28 cities from June 30. Throughout the month of July, it will also have weekly programmes, campus outreach activities, and Ambedkar Dialogues. On August 1, 2026, they will gherao the collectorates in all 28 cities and on August 9, 2026, the first phase will be culminated with the “Delhi Chalo” march by bringing together students from across the country to ensure that their collective voice reaches the Government of India.
