Two labourers were killed and another seriously injured in a freak accident during an agricultural well deepening works at Jayyaram village in Palakruthy mandal of Peddapalli district on Tuesday (May 19, 2026).
The incident occurred when a large mass of earth caved in while the labourers were placing concrete rings along the periphery of the well.
Two labourers, who were engaged in digging the well, were killed on the spot. Another labourer was rescued from the well.
The police identified the deceased labourers as R. Rajaiah, 55, and Anjaneyulu, 35, both natives of Peddapalli district.
Another injured labourer was shifted to a hospital in Peddapalli town.
The Basanthnagar police registered a case and are investigating.
