Precision engineered critical components maker Azad Engineering has established a 7,600 sq m advanced lean manufacturing facility in Tunkibollaram, Hyderabad, to support global energy technology company Baker Hughes.

Engineered for high-precision, high-volume Baker Hughes industrial and energy technology (IET) programmes, the facility has cutting-edge equipment and process flow designed for productivity excellence, Azad said after the inauguration by Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Thursday. Sources said the investment on the facility is around ₹200 crore.

Hailing Baker Hughes, which operates in over 120 countries, for choosing Hyderabad as its Make in India site, the Minister said that the company’s partnership with Azad Engineering is a blueprint for the world-class collaborations Telangana’s ecosystem is built to deliver.

The State has India’s most progressive industrial policy and offers tailor-made incentives, Mr. Sridhar Babu said, adding the vision is to move beyond manufacturing and establish Telangana as a global centre for engineering innovation.

“The facility is a milestone in our eight-year journey with Baker Hughes that began with us supplying critical rotating airfoils for gas and steam turbine finish stages and since grown into a deep, strategic partnership for the IET business. The facility is part of our strategy to build a dedicated, world-class manufacturing facility complete with in-house special process capabilities exclusively for Baker Hughes,” Chairman and CEO Rakesh Chopdar said. Azad has onboarded about 230 skilled professionals at the facility.

Baker Hughes VP IET Operations Davide Marrani said Azad’s facility strengthens the global supply chain of Baker Hughes and supports long-term growth strategy. Collaborations like this are essential to building a resilient and competitive global supply chain, he said.
