The long time demands for establishing a state-of-the-art sports arena would soon be in place for the youth aspiring to achieve to the top, said TN Minister for Industries S. Keerthana here on Saturday.

Speaking at a meeting held at the District Collectorate, in the presence of District Collector N. O. Sukhaputhra, Superintendent of Police Srinatha and other senior officers, she said that the sheen will be back in Virudhunagar district. Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is keen on the overall growth of the State, she said.

The efforts of the district administration to help about 500 students to pass the public examinations was appreciable. While in several segments, the district performed well in the “Aspirational district” in the last couple of years, she hoped Virudhunagar stepped into the higher league and brought about a transformation.

The womenfolk, especially, those below poverty line would get support, Ms Keerthana said and appealed to the officials to be courteous and help the needy without delay. “This is very important as it will instill confidence and improve the image of the public offices,” she added.

The essential commodities should be available in the PDS and basic amenities such as potable water should reach all habitations. “We have to ensure that people in remote locations too received water regularly...” she said and added that the officials should focus on the Tamirabharani drinking water project.

The district, which has been on the top in plus two examinations should strive hard to retain the position and assured help. The Minister urged the officials to be more communicative and respond swiftly to the demands of the public.
