SRIKAKULAM:

The Andhra Pradesh GST Officers and Employees Association’s State honorary president Chowdary Purushottam Naidu on Sunday requested all officials and employees to extend their full support to the government for the effective implementation of tax reforms and usage of artificial intelligence, data analytics in tax collections. He alleged that a few officials from other associations were trying to thwart the image of the government as well as that of the Chief Commissioner of AP GST wing Babu Ahmed who was instrumental in ensuring optimum utilisation of technology in tax collections.

Speaking to media, Mr. Purushottam Naidu said that the usage of technology fetched ₹3,361 crore tax collections in March, 2026 in spite of the significant downward revision of GST slabs by the Union government six months ago. “A few officials and employees with vested interests are creating unrest among others after the denial of promotions due to certain procedures. The individual grievances cannot be used as a pretext to damage the image of the government,” he added.

Mr. Purushottam said that Mr. Babu Ahmed ensured all officials collected tax arrears from industries and business houses in the last couple of years. “A few officials not interested in discharging their duties are instigating agitations in the department. It is not correct to disturb the government since it needs proper tax collections for effective implementation of welfare and developmental schemes in the State,” he added.

APNGOs Association's State vice president Rayi Venugopal said that the association would not intrude in the government policies with regard to transfers, tax collections and other issues. He said that the leaders of majority of the associations have submitted a petition to Mr. Babu Ahmed in Amaravati over the genuine grievances of the staff while assuring full support for effective tax collections in semi urban and rural areas also.
