Plus One admissions likely from May 25
2026-05-22 · via The Hindu: Latest News today from India and the World, Breaking news, Top Headlines and Trending News Videos.

The General Education department is preparing to invite applications for Plus One single-window admission from May 25.

A final date is yet to be confirmed since the number of seats in some districts is fewer than the number of students who have completed SSLC.

At present, 3,60,844 higher secondary seats, 33,000 vocational higher secondary seats, and over 30,000 seats in polytechnic and ITIs are available in the State, according to the department.

However, 4,10,456 students became eligible for higher studies this year.

A proposal has been submitted to the government for allowing marginal seat increase of up to 30% and continuing the batches temporarily sanctioned and those shifted to the Malabar region as had been done in the past. However, a government order will have to be issued, subject to Cabinet ratification, to effect the seat increase in time for students to submit their applications.

Last year, the increase in seats from marginal seat increase and shifting of batches came to more than 80,000.

However, with Plus Two result declaration on May 26 and Bakrid on May 28, another date is also under consideration – May 29. This is also so that SSLC revaluation results can be announced ahead of first allotment which will allow the updated marks of students to be entered in time for the allotment.

The trial allotment is expected to be published on May 8. This will be followed by three allotments in the main phase. Classes could start in the first week of July. A supplementary allotment will also be held.

The office of the Minister is also keen that admissions begin on May 25 and the process hitherto followed is observed and no student is denied Plus One admission.
