The Andhra Pradesh government has ordered the removal of all advertisement boards, hoardings, flex banners and other promotional materials displayed at liquor shops and bars across the State, Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra said on Tuesday. The move is aimed at ensuring stricter regulation of liquor promotion in the State, he said.

The Minister said the decision was taken in line with resolutions adopted during a recent review meeting of the Excise Department. He instructed Excise Commissioner Chamakuri Sridhar to expedite the removal process and ensure strict implementation of the ban throughout the State.

According to the Minister, the Excise Commissioner has already issued guidelines to the district-level officials, including Assistant and Deputy Commissioners, directing them to enforce the prohibition. Special inspection drives are being conducted to remove advertisement displays at liquor retail outlets and bars.

Officials have advised liquor shop and bar owners to cooperate with the government in implementing the orders.

Mr. Ravindra emphasised that all establishments must strictly adhere to the regulations and refrain from displaying any form of promotional material related to liquor sales.

Warning of stringent action against violators, the Minister said any advertisements, hoardings or publicity materials installed in violation of government directives would attract action under the relevant rules.
