Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg directed officials of the Engineering and Town Planning Departments to expedite the development of connectivity roads leading to the Bhogapuram Airport and make them available for public use at the earliest. The works include the widening of the road from Vepagunta to Pinagadi and the construction of the new road from Vepagunta to Juttada.
On Sunday, the Commissioner, along with GVMC Chief Engineer P.V. Satyanarayana Raju, APTRANSCO Electrical Superintending Engineer and officials of the GVMC Engineering and Town Planning Departments, inspected the ongoing road development works in the Pendurthi Zone.
During the inspection, Mr. Garg reviewed the four-kilometre road widening works from Vepagunta to Pinagadi. He instructed officials to immediately remove obstacles such as electric poles, transformers and structures around temples that were hampering the road expansion works. He also sought an explanation from the contractor and officials over the delay in laying the road despite completion of the preliminary development works, and directed them to complete the project without further delay.
Later, the Commissioner inspected the newly developing 6.4-km-long, 80-foot-wide road from Vepagunta to Juttada. He discussed defence land-related issues along the route with the concerned officials and instructed them to resolve the matter at the earliest.
Pendurthi Zonal Commissioner H. Shankara Rao and others were present.
