A 32-year-old plumber ended his life at his residence in Kompally on Saturday night allegedly due to alcohol addiction and recurring domestic disputes, police said.
The deceased was identified as Mohammed Madar, a resident of Kummarabasti in Kompally. He is survived by wife and three children.
According to the police, Madar had developed a severe alcohol addiction and frequently quarrelled with his wife over money. Family members told police that he often spent most of his earnings on alcohol and had previously attempted suicide while being intoxicated.
On May 9, Madar allegedly argued with his wife and demanded ₹200 before leaving the house to consume alcohol.
Later that evening, while his wife and children were outside, he called his wife around 8.30 p.m. and informed her that he intended to end his life.
Alarmed by the call, his wife Immediately alerted a relative, who lived nearby. Neighbours rushed to the house and broke open the door, only to find Madar hanging inside the residence.
Police shifted the body for postmortem examination and registered a case based on the complaint lodged by his wife.
Further investigation is underway.
