National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) has planned to procure 875 metric tonnes of black gram from farmers of Kamuthi region through the Kamuthi Regulated Agricultural Market till July 9.

The procurement under the Centre’s minimum support price would be done at ₹78 per kg.

This initiative is to ensure that the farmers got assured remuneration when the market price of the farm produce goes down and prevent the farmers from incurring loss, said Ramanathapuram Collector M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran.

The statement said that foreign particles should not be more than 2%, broken grains 3%, grains damaged by pests 4% and unmatured or withered grains 3% would be accepted. Besides, the moisture content of black grams has been fixed at 12%.

The farmers of the jurisdiction of Kamuthi Regulated Agricultural Market have been asked to register their names for selling their produce with the Superintendent of the regulated market.

The farmers should produce copies of land documents, adangal, Aadhaar card and savings bank passbook while registering themselves.

Further details could be obtained from the Superintendent of Kamuthi Regulated Agricultural Market over 9025806296 and 9788843566.

Tamil Nadu State Agricultural Marketing Board is the State agency for the procurement of black gram. The State Government has taken steps to deposit money in the bank accounts of the farmers within three days of procuring the produce, the statement said.
