The State Health Department has directed a joint inspection of all old buildings under its jurisdiction and the submission of a detailed report within a fortnight, following instructions by the Chief Secretary on April 30.
In view of the unseasonal rain and strong winds across the State, which may weaken ageing structures and pose risks, officials, including District Health Officers, Taluk Health Officers, and taluk-level nodal officers, have been instructed to immediately assess the condition of all government health facilities such as sub-centres, PHCs, CHCs, and taluk hospitals. As a precautionary measure, patients in vulnerable wards or buildings must be shifted to safer locations wherever required, stated an official order issued on Tuesday.
