In the Class 12 exam results released on Friday (May 8), Salem district registered a 96.61 pass percentage and Namakkal district, 97.04.

In Salem district, a total of 36,572 students, including 17,238 boys and 19,334 girls from 316 schools, appeared for the exams. Of them, 35,334 passed, including 16,443 boys and 18,891 girls. The pass percentage of Salem district was 96.61% and got 14th place in the State. Girls registered a pass percentage of 97.71 in Salem and boys, 95.39%.

Of the total 316 schools, 105 schools produced centum results, including 23 government schools. Last year (2025), Salem district had achieved 94.32 pass percentage. This year, it rose by 2.29%.

Private schools in Salem district registered a pass percentage of 98.92, and government-aided schools, 95.47%. As for government schools, Salem district got 11th place in the State. From 160 government schools in the district, 20,218 students appeared for the exams, and of those, 18,267 passed the exams. Government school pass percentage was 95.30. Of the 546 differently abled students who wrote the exams in Salem district, 364 passed the test; their pass percentage was 66.6.

In Salem district, 357 students got centum in computer science, 40 students got centum in mathematics, 30 students got centum in Tamil and eight students got centum in English.

Notably, 21 prisoners from Salem Central Prison appeared for Class 12 exams and all cleared the test. Prisoner Shanmuga Prabu got 480 marks, Tamilarasan 478 marks and Kalaiyarasan 468 marks and secured the first three places.

In Namakkal districts, 18,360 students, including 8,966 boys and 9,394 girls, appeared for the exams from 196 schools. Of them, 17,817 students, including 8,633 boys and 9,184 girls, passed the test. The pass percentage was 97.04. Namakkal district secured 10th place in the State. Boys registered a pass percentage of 96.29 and girls, 97.76. 

From 95 government schools in the Namakkal district, 9,526 students appeared for the exams. Of them, 9,087 passed the test. Pass percentage of government schools was 95.39, getting 9th place in the State. In Namakkal district, out of 196 schools, 66 produced 100% pass percentage, including 12 government schools.
