As the pre-monsoon developments have gained momentum in the Maharashtra, a severe heatwave situation persists in Vidarbha region with Bramhapuri town in Chandrapur district recording highest maximum temperature of 47.2°C in the country. 

Indian Metrological Department (IMD) has sent heatwave alert for Vidarbha region, including Amravati, Wardha, and Chandrapur districts for two days, while orange alert issued thereafter till May 28. Heatwave is considered if maximum temperature of a station reaches at least 40°C or more for Plains, 37°C or more for coastal stations and at least 30°C or more for Hilly regions.

At the same time, stormy rains are being recorded in some districts of the State, including Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Pune district. On Monday (May 25), the Kokan region districts like Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri are likely to receive light rainfall, while yellow alert has been given for May 27 and May 28. 

The yellow alert is also given to Marathwada region, including Latur, Dharashiv, Beed, and for Pune, Ahilyanagar and Solapur in Western Maharashtra as some of the areas in these district is forecasted to record thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and rainfall. For rest of the week light rain has been forecasted.
