Despite not uttering a word enroute, actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president C. Joseph Vijay brought life in parts of south Chennai to a halt for a few hours as onlookers, admirers, and party workers lined up on the roads of T. Nagar, Egmore, and Thousand Lights constituencies here in Chennai.

Mr. Vijay waved to the young men and women who had congregated spontaneously on the road side from Nandanam Metro alongside ardent party supporters, occasionally running towards his campaign vehicle to greet him.

He appeared along with the party’s general secretary, ‘Bussy’ N. Anand, near Hotel Majestic, standing on top of the vehicle, waving to the crowds on rooftops and on the pavements. The police had to intervene many times to clear the crowds that swarmed around the van and ensure that it could move.

Wearing a whistle on his neck and flanked by his bodyguards and the candidate of the constituency, the campaign slowly glided through the main roads of the busy T. Nagar constituency.

Thousands Lights candidate J.C.D. Prabhakar, switched places with Mr. Anand as the convoy passed through Bazullah Road towards Valluvar Kottam and then towards the Egmore constituency.

TVK’s candidate for Egmore constituency, Raj Mohan, switched places with Mr. Prabhakar. Mr. Vijay continued to wave and throw flowers on people, skipping a planned stop in Egmore, riding through the main roads of the constituency, before wrapping the campaign for the day.
