India A sailed past host Sri Lanka with a massive 66-run win to lift the Tri-Nation Series title at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium on Sunday.
A Vaibhav Sooryavanshi classic in the first innings — a 29-ball 94, which broke the record for the fastest half-century in men’s List A cricket — set the foundation for the 377-run total.
Skipper Tilak Varma contributed with a cautious 90-ball 67, with helpful knocks also coming from the bats of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Kumar Kushagra, Vipraj Nigam, and Anukul Roy.
While defending the target, Yash Thakur was the pick of the Indian bowling pack, taking three wickets. For Sri Lanka, it maintained a health run rate through the innings but lost wickets too.
For the host, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Wanuja Sahan kept the chase alive with half-centuries but the total was always going to be high.
