The final round of fixtures in the group stage of FIFA World Cup 2026 will begin on June 24, with the four teams in each group playing simultaneously.
The expanded 48-team tournament this time will see the top teams from each group and the eight best third place teams overall qualify for the first knockout round.
Here is how the tie-breaker for the eight best third-place teams will be decided:
1. most number of points obtained in all group matches
2. highest goal difference across all group matches
3. most goals scored in all group matches
4. highest team conduct score (players and team officials) — yellow and red cards obtained
5. latest FIFA World Ranking
