India leads APAC in worker confidence that jobs are safe ...
BL Chennai Bureau · 2026-06-23 · via Latest Business News, Business News India Today | The HinduBusinessLine

Around 30% of Indian workers strongly believe their jobs are safe from elimination, surpassing the global average of 22 per cent, according to a report released by HR services firm ADP on Tuesday. India ranks first in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region and third globally in terms of perceived job security.

The report suggested that in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, average perceived job security stood at 18 per cent while no country recorded majority of its workers having confidence in their job security.

The study, which focuses on job insecurity, highlights significant differences across job categories. In India, only 18% of skilled-task workers and 17% of repetitive-task workers reported strong confidence in their job security, compared with 37% of knowledge workers.

Meanwhile, workers in the finance and insurance sector reported the highest levels of job security confidence across APAC, while those employed in accommodation and food services recorded the lowest.

Interestingly, the report also found that 41% of the Indian workforce uses generative AI nearly every day, placing India at the top globally in workforce adoption of the technology.

“India is outperforming global and regional averages in job security confidence; however, the data still indicates a clear gap between employment conditions and how employees perceive their long-term job security,” said Rahul Goyal, Managing Director, ADP India and Southeast Asia.

The report also added that confidence in job security positively impacts employee retention and performance. Globally, workers who feel secure in their jobs are twice as likely to say they have no intention of leaving.
