TN Assembly elections: Joseph Vijay promises ‘Citizen Pri...

Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) founder and actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay on Sunday outlined an ambitious governance roadmap centred on transparency, digital delivery and artificial intelligence (AI), describing it as the party’s key agendas for the future.

Addressing supporters at Kanyakumari, Vijay said the TVK government would introduce a Tamil Nadu Citizen Privilege Card, similar to Aadhaar, integrating all individual and family data to ensure welfare schemes are delivered automatically from birth without the need for applications or intermediaries, if voted to power.

He said the system would be powered by AI to eliminate delays and corruption in government offices, asserting that there would be no role for middlemen and that benefits would reach people at their doorstep.

Vijay also promised that within six months of coming to power, his government would enact a Tamil Nadu Right to Service Act to guarantee time-bound delivery of public services, with strict accountability for delays.

He announced plans for a “Super App” that would bring together all government services, including driving licences, birth certificates and grievance redressal, into a single digital platform accessible on mobile phones.

Vijay said a real-time governance dashboard would be created to track public spending and project implementation, making budget utilisation transparent.

He also proposed a participatory governance model through a portal, MyVetriTamilnadu.in, where citizens could suggest policies, evaluate services, track expenditure and submit petitions directly to the Assembly. Petitions with sufficient verified public support, he said, would mandatorily receive official responses and even be taken up for debate in the Assembly.

Projecting Tamil Nadu as a future hub for artificial intelligence, Vijay said his party would establish an Artificial Intelligence University, create an AI City with global research institutions and set up innovation centres in cities such as Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem and Tiruchy to support deep-tech startups. He also proposed the creation of a dedicated AI ministry.

Framing the election as a direct contest with the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Vijay urged voters to back TVK in the elections to be held on April 23, calling it a generation-defining election and appealing for support to the party’s whistle symbol.
