As Tamil Nadu heads for assembly elections, thousands of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees are once again raising a key demand – Indian citizenship. In Tiruchirappalli, many refugees have spent decades in camps building their lives there. Many of their children were born there and study in local schools. Refugees allege they face discrimination when seeking jobs in private establishments, while government jobs remain out of bounds without Indian citizenship.
