Workplaces have provided brilliant inspiration for sitcoms. Take the British television series The Office, which spawned several successful international adaptations as well, including one in India. Now here comes India’s first theatre-led workplace storytelling IP, launched by Onsurity, an employee healthcare and benefits company. The inaugural edition of Office Drama, staged in Bengaluru in July, brought together nine original plays inspired by modern workplace experiences. The audience of over 300 comprised founders, HR leaders, CXOs, creators and mediapersons. Judged by actors Chandan Roy and Rajeev Mehta, the platform marked the coming together of India’s startup ecosystem and independent theatre community. Through this initiative, Onsurity aims to build one of India’s most distinctive cultural platforms exploring the future of work. The 9-5 grind sure has its fair share of daily drama, so there should be no shortage of scripts.

Accelerating transformation

As AI reshapes how organisations operate, compete and create value, a new report by Deloitte, titled ‘Future of work and people analytics maturity — The Indian story’, highlights how Indian businesses are accelerating workforce transformation through AI-enabled and data-driven workforce strategies. Over half of the surveyed organisations have started integrating AI into HR and work processes, notes the report, while more than 60 per cent report a visible shift from task-based roles towards those requiring problem-solving and creativity. Workforce models are also becoming more agile, with around 80 per cent of organisations strengthening workforce planning and contingent talent strategies, 76 per cent actively identifying future skill gaps and 81 per cent investing in employee experience, career development and well-being initiatives to build a more resilient and future-ready workforce. The report is based on insights from over 85 organisations across India and examines how organisations are responding to the evolving nature of work in an increasingly AI-driven environment.
