Retail inflation, based on consumer price index (CPI) rose a tad to 3.48 per cent in April from 3.4 per cent of March, government reported on Tuesday,

According to official data, year-on-year inflation rate based on All India Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) for the month of April was 4.20 per cent as against 3.87 per cent of March.  Year-on-year Housing inflation rate for the month of April, 2026 is 2.15 per cent and the corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban are 2.65% and 1.96%, respectively.

Potato, onion and motor car & jeep recorded deflation of 23.69 per cent, 17.67 per cent and 7.12 respectively in April. However, inflation for silver jewellery recorded at 144.34 per cent, coconut, copra at 44.55 per cent and gold/diamond/platinum jewellery recorded inflation at 40.72 per cent.
