JSW Motors, Tata Elxsi to set up EV tech centre in Pune
2026-04-24 · via Company News: Companies Analysis, Updates & Insights | The HinduBusinessLine

JSW Motors and Tata Elxsi signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Friday to establish a joint R&D facility in Pune, marking a significant step in India’s push toward software-defined electric vehicles.

The facility, named JNEXT – JSW NextGen Technology Center, will function as an engineering hub for developing connected vehicle platforms covering electric vehicles, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids. Tata Elxsi will take end-to-end ownership of the Connected Vehicle Platform and a unified customer experience application for JSW Motors’ upcoming vehicle programmes, from initial design through to aftersales support.

Under the partnership, Tata Elxsi will bring capabilities in user experience design, cloud platforms, over-the-air software update frameworks, digital twins, cybersecurity, AI/ML analytics, and 5G-enabled technology. The engagement will also cover software-defined vehicle architectures, predictive maintenance platforms, and safety and cybersecurity frameworks aligned with global automotive standards. Tata Elxsi will deploy its proprietary TETHER Auto platform to deliver cloud-native solutions.

JSW Motors CEO Ranjan Nayak said the partnership would help accelerate development timelines and strengthen focus on quality and safety, while supporting indigenisation across the vehicle value chain. Tata Elxsi MD and CEO Manoj Raghavan described the JNEXT centre as instrumental in translating connected vehicle technology into real-world products.

JSW Motors, established in 2024 as the automotive arm of the $23 billion JSW Group, is building a greenfield manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. Tata Elxsi employs over 13,000 engineers globally and has an established presence in automotive R&D services spanning autonomous, electric, and connected vehicle technologies.
