Water technology company VA Tech Wabag, on Friday said it has bagged a ‘mega’ DBO (Design, Build, Operate) contract for the Doha SWRO Desalination Plant with Recarbonation System - Stage II in Kuwait. ‘Mega’ orders are international projects worth more than $150 million. 

The project entails the design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a 60 MIGD (approximately 272 MLD) Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant, equipped with a state-of-the-art recarbonation system, and is scheduled for completion within 36 months, the company said in an exchange filing.

The contract also includes a five-year Operations and Maintenance (O&M) period.

Upon completion, the facility will leverage advanced desalination technologies to produce high-quality potable water, helping address Kuwait’s growing water demand. The project also incorporates Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems to meet the plant’s energy requirements partially.

This order from the Ministry of Electricity, Water & Renewable Energy (MEWRE) will be executed through a Joint Venture (JV) partnership with Heavy Engineering Industries & Shipbuilding Company K.S.C.
